Computer Society of India (AKGEC) successfully conducted the following events in 2015-16 session:

The Initiative 2016

Computer Society of India (AKGEC) successfully conducted the inter-college event “THE INITIATIVE 2016”. The main aim of the event was to motivate students to take the initiative of initiating a step towards problems of changing today’s scenario under 6 different domains Unemployment, Censorship in Media, Gender Awareness, Internet for All, Currency Depreciation and Taboos in India.

 

The event consisted of two rounds. The first round involved submission of synopsis suggesting a feasible and technical innovative solution to problems pertaining to various domains. The teams qualifying from the first round were called for a final presentation of 10-15 minutes, including a questionnaire round.

 

The event started on 4thApril, 2016 with the launch of the event website on the college domain namely www.akgec.in/theinitiative  designed by the society coordinators with an aim to explain the entire concept of the event and provide rules and regulations including online registration process. The preliminary round which was conducted online got 134 registrations on the event website. Also a variety of poems and reports etc. were received. The 22 qualifying teams went to the final round. On 20th April, 2016, the final round was conducted in parallel runs at AKGEC. Certificates and cash prizes were given to the teams who got 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions.

The event was coordinated by Shubham Upadhayay (CSE 3rd year) and his team. The event succeeded in creating enough zeal among the participants.  


CSI Workshop


Topic:   Web Technology

Date:          4th Feb to 18th Feb 2016

Time:          4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Venue:        IT Labs

CSI conducted a workshop on Web Technology from 4th Feb to 18th Feb, 2016 (4-6PM) at IT labs. A total of 94 non-CSI students registered and enthusiastically participated in this workshop. The classes in the workshop were conducted mainly by CSI-AKGEC student chapter members. In this workshop students learned about various structures available in HTML5 for website designing and various ways of enhancing it by adding pictures, animations, buttons, variety of texts and hyperlinks etc. using CSS with practical examples. They also learnt about using PHP (server side scripting language) and MySQL (open source RDBMS).                         

CINE 2015 – A CSI recruitment drive

The Computer Society of India AKGEC branch conducted its recruitment drive for B.Tech 2nd Year (all branches) on 1st September 2015. The recruitment process saw a large number of participation of students in domains namely Technical, Management and Web designing. The 2nd year students showed a great zeal of interest for all the domains. On the basis of their performance in their respective domains, the students were selected for CSI team.

 

CSI Guest Lecture

        Topic:        Agile Methodology

        Date:          Oct 5th, 2015

Time:          11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

CSI AKGEC branch conducted a guest lecture on Agile Methodology on 5th Oct 2015. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rakesh Missra (Principal consultant- Missra Consultancy). The lecture was attended by B.Tech 2nd and 3rd year students of IT and faculty members. In this lecture students learned about various issues related to Agile Methodology and its scope and applications.


The Initiative 2015

Computer Society of India (AKGEC) successfully conducted the inter-college event “THE INITIATIVE 2015”. The main aim of the event was to brainstorm the minds of young students about the burning issues in the country under 6 different domains (Political:  Is India truly a Secular state? Social: Feminism in India, Economics: FDI in Retail, IT: Cyber security, Sports: The state of sports in India, Media: The quality of journalism in India).

The event consisted of two rounds. The first round involved submission of synopsis suggesting a feasible and technical innovative solution to problems pertaining to various domains. The teams qualifying from the first round were called for a final presentation of 10-15 minutes, including questionnaire round.

The event started on 7th Feb, 2015 with the launch of the event website on the college domain, namely www.akgec.in/theinitiative/ designed by the society coordinators with an aim to explain the entire concept of the event and provide rules and regulations including online registration process.

The preliminary round which was conducted online saw 254 registrations on the event website. Also the participants sent a large number of original videos interviewing their peers and seniors about the problems. Also a variety of presentations, poems and reports were received. The 21 qualifying teams (including 3 teams from other colleges) went to the final round. On 29th March 2015, the final round was conducted in parallel runs at the Main Seminar Hall and the Mini Seminar Hall 1, 2. A cash prizes were given to the teams who got 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions.

The event was managed by Palash Deep (CSE 4th year) and his team. The event succeeded in generating enough enthusiasm among the participants.  


CSI Events in “Techtrishna 2015”    

Following 3 events were conducted on 14th and 15th March 2015 under the College

technical fest “Techtrishna 2015” by CSI -AKGEC student branch. 


1.   FIFA 11(  LAN Gaming) 

FIFA game featured real-time 3D graphics on the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and PC versions, using technology called "Virtual Stadium". It was also the first in the series to present players with real player names and positions, with ranking, transfer and team customization tools. It is a multiplayer computer game which can be played online or offline. This event was full of blaze, excitement and adrenalin rush.

The tournament was a single-elimination tournament also called an Olympic system tournament, a knockout or sudden death tournament was a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each bracket is immediately eliminated from winning the first prize in the event.

The Finals:

Unlike the previous rounds the the last rounds were a single leg match. These rounds consisted of Quarterfinals (8 players), Semi-finals (4 players) and Final (2 players).

 

2.   Route D Moksha ( Online Gaming)

Route D Moksha was an online single player game, for which the players had to register with their Tech-fest ID allotted to them. Players got to use their logical senses to unravel the questions and move to further level. As the game got going the difficulty level of questions increased, though hints were provided to ease their nerve. The event was declared closed on the last day of the “Techtrishna 2015”. The player to reach the last designed level first was declared the winner.

3.   Tech Hour Shoot (Amalgamation)

Tech Hour Shoot had surpassed 3 years of creating an unmatched aura of dynamic and fun-flooded groovy event year after year. This fun-frolic event allowed the experts within people unleash their intelligence and tap their fingers very quick.

Preliminary Level:

This phase consisted of an hourly flashing as well as announcements of questions. Interested participants were supposed to send their answers in the form of a text message.

Main Level:

The qualifiers from the preliminary level performed tasks ranging from doing physical activities, to vocabulary tests like tongue twisters or to answer technical questions related to various fields.

One question was displayed on projector screen every hour. Each task had a defined time in which the task is to be completed. There was a lapse time of 15 min between every round.


CINE 2014 – A CSI recruitment drive

The Computer Society of India, AKGEC Branch conducted its recruitment drive for B.Tech 2nd Year (all branches) on 12th August, 2014. The recruitment process saw an appreciable participation of students from both the domains namely Technical and Management.


CSI Workshop on HTML5 & CSS

The classes in the workshop were conducted mainly by Palash Deep (CSE 4th year student), Kumar Gaurav (IT 4th year student). Also 41 CSI students attended the workshop.


Inter college event “THE INITIATIVE 2014”

Date:          4-30 April, 2014

Computer Society of India (AKGEC) successfully conducted the inter college event “THE INITIATIVE 2014”. The objective of the event was to focus on 6 important domains (Women Security, Garbage and Sanitation, Judicial System, Fuel-An Alternative, Research and Development and Traffic Problem in Metropolitan Cities) and their problems faced by India and to come out with appropriate solutions for them. The proposed event consisted of two rounds. The first preliminary round involved submission of synopsis suggesting a feasible and technical innovative solution to problems pertaining to various domains. In 2nd round students gave presentations and discussed their solutions. The preliminary round saw 115 registrations on the event website. The prize money Rs. 2000 and   Rs. 1000 was awarded to 1st and  2nd winner teams. Participants of final round and prize winning teams were also given certificates. Since the cause was genuine, the event became highly successful; suggesting primarily that it would attract much larger participation and popularity, if it continues for the next time too.


Workshop on “HTML5 & CSS”

Students namely Anirudh Rai (IT, 4th year), Nikhil Mahendra (CSE, 4th year) and Kumar Gaurav (IT, 3rd year) conducted a workshop on HTML5 & CSS illustrating its use in website designing. AKGEC CSI student branch students attended this workshop. Also 112 students from other branches got benefitted from this workshop.


Workshop on “Word Press”

Two students namely Anirudh Rai (IT, 4th year) and Nikhil Mahendra (CSE, 4th year)conducted a workshop on WordPress illustrating its use in web applications. AKGEC CSI student branch students attended this workshop.


Guest lecture on “Cloud computing”

Speaker Mr. Sheetal Sharma, technical trainer at Jetking Infotrain Ltd. Delhi, gave a lecture on various aspects of cloud computing such as overview, benefits, limitations, service providers etc.

IT department faculty members and students of IT 3rd and 4th year attended this program.



3 Days workshop on web Design by CSI student branch

3 Days workshop on web design was organized by CSI Student branch from 16/10/12 to 18/10/12 in which 33 CSI members and 50 non CSI members participated. In this students learnt about basic technical skills of Photoshop. After workshop students were evaluated for the skills learnt during the workshop .Top 10 students were given certificate. Top 3 students were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 800, Rs. 300, and Rs.100 respectively.

A workshop was organized jointly by Ajay Kumar Garg Enginering College CSI student Branch and Google Corporation. Mr. Uttam Tripathy, Program Manager, Developer Relation, Google Corporation discussed about The Google Summer of Code (GSoC). He appraised the students about the opportunity available to do their summer and dfinal projects proposed by goole as an annual program, first held from May to August 2005, in which Google awards stipends (of 5000 USD, as of 2012) to hundreds of students who successfully complete a requested free and open-source software coding project during the summer. The program is open to students aged 18 or over – the closely related Google Highly Open Participation Contest is intended for students under the age of 18. Professor Debesh Das,Chairman, Division-III, CSI,, discuss about the intellectual writing and patents. Professor Das emphasize on writing on research paper and project which are based on current demand of industry. Student should bridge the gap of industry and institutions. Mr. Prabir Purkayastha, Chairman Knowledge Commission, enlightens to the student about the hardware and software wastage and recycle process.Mr. Vijay Rastogi, Executive CSI Ghaziabad Chapter, focused on benefits and Scope of Computer Society of India. He motivates the students to take the membership of CSI and how they get the benefits.



Four events in the College Tech-Fest “TECH –TRISHNA’12 ”On 23rd & 24th March, 2012 AKGEC CSI organized four different technical events in the college tech fest “Tech-Trishna’12”. The events were as follows:

i) Route D’ Moksha:Route D’Moksha is an online reassure hunt event in which participants will have to answer a searies of questions based upn reasoning, imagination, general awareness and common sense. They would have to clear various levels as they ahed in the event. To assist the participants, they would be provided with hints on the adjoining forum. Go ahead, travel through the various stages of life, to attain the ultim to goal of MOKSHA…

ii) Tech Hour Shoot:This is a goodies based event with on spot technical quizzes and riddles. Questions will be flashed on an hourly basis. The first correct answer received through SMS will be awarded a goodie.

iii) Photopsy:Photopsy is a basic image editing event where the participants would get ot showcase their creativity as well as their command on the image editing tools like PJOTOSHOP, Corel etc.. In this event the participants would be asked to develop and edit and image as per the constraints mentioned in the given case scenario.

iv) DJ Freak:DJ Freak is a thrilling event to unleash the audiophile in you. In the area of hybrid technology, here comes a brand new event for audio mixing. The participants will be provided with the track and a brief on the mixing tools like audacity or sound forge, etc. The winning tracks will be played during the tech-fest with their featuring names.



IT-Innovations-2012: A student technical paper presentation competition. AKGEC CSI student branch had organized IT-Innovations’2012, a technical paper presentation for B.Tech.- IT 3rd year students, The presention completed in two different rounds and during these rounds 34 technical paper were presented. First round completed on 09th & 10th Feburary 2012 and Second round was completed on 24th & 25th April 2012.

The Speaker Dr. Ramesh Chand Bansal (Member, Editorial boards of IEEE &IET) Faculty School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering, University of Quinsland, St. Lucia, Australia. This Guest lecture is exclusively organized for Faculty member of all departments. The aim of the guest lecture was to analyze the teaching research methodology in different foreign universities. Dr. Bansal also gave the tips, how to write the good research papers for IEEE and other reputed journals. The event was a success as the faculty members were aware the foreign university culture.



National Conference ITBT’11CSI Ghaziabad Chapter sponsored a National conference ITBT’11 was held on 4th -5th November 2011. The Conference organized by Department of Information Technology, Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad and was  technically sponsored by IEEE Computer Society, Delhi Section and Associated by GMA (Ghaziabad Management Association). This conference was success fully organized and CSI students did the excellent jobs at every step to make it successful. In this conference we got 104 research papers form all distinct part of  India and even one paper is from abroad too; Out of these papers  only 41 papers were short listed for presentation in the conference  and they were publish in the conference proceeding



One Day Workshop on “LINUX”

AKGEC CSI student branch had organized a workshop on “Linux” as per the following programme:

The workshop was conducted by AKGEC CSI student Branch. The aim of the workshop is to introduce students to philosophy behind Free/Open Source Software, and to have hands - on session related to Linux. The workshop conducted in two sessions:

1. Conceptual Building Session    11:00AM to 1:30 PM (Mini Seminar Hall)

2. Practical Session                      2:00AM  to  4:30 PM (IT-Lab-3)

The workshop was taken by Mr. Vikas Kumar, a well established and experienced Linux Administrator; currently working with Eurus Internetworks Services Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, honored by Redhat Inc. with certification (RHCE-Nov.2010) for his abilities. The event was a success as the workshop had huge turnouts of CSI student members and faculty members as well.

AKGEC CSI student branch organized a guest lecture on “Networks Forensics”. As per the following schedule:

The event was a success as the lecture had huge turnouts of CSI student members and faculty members as well.



IT-Innovations-2011: A student technical paper presentation competition.

AKGEC CSI student branch had organized IT-Innovations’2011, a technical paper contest for B.Tech. - IT 3rdyear students on 21st & 22nd April2011.  This contest was completed in two rounds. In the First round of contest total 51 technical papers were received and shortlisted 09 papers for the final round. The First, Second and Third winning papers got cash prize of Rs. 700/-, 600/- and 500/-respectively.



Three events in the College Tech-Fest “TECH – TRISHNA”

On 3rd & 4th April2011 AKGEC CSI organized three different technical events in the college tech fest “Tech-Trishna”.

(i) Route D’ Moksha: It is an online treasure hunt event getting a participation of almost 700 students.

(ii) Photopsy: It is a photo editing event using adobe Photoshop and coral photopoint.

(iii) Webolution: A website designing event using JAVA, PHP or .NET.



Two Days Workshop on “Introduction to PHP and Drupal”.

AKGEC CSI student branch had organized a workshop on “Introduction to PHP and Drupal’ as per the following programme:

The aim of the workshop is to introduce students to philosophy behind Free/Open Source Software (FOSS), and to have hands - on session related to web development .
